The beginning of all wisdom…

Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

How many times have you needed wisdom in navigating a difficult situation? Is your natural first inclination to pray for divine intervention? If so, you know this principle well.

The fear of the Lord, sometimes described as “deep, reverential awe” of the Lord’s sovereignty, is the first prerequisite for gaining wisdom. In other words, acknowledging that we are mere mortals, finite in our knowledge and in need of our Lord’s wisdom and guidance is the entry point for gaining heavenly answers to earthly problems.

The next step in making a request for heavenly wisdom is acknowledging that in Him we all “live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). This is as simple as praying something like, “Lord, you know all. And I don’t. So, I’m asking for your wisdom and direction in this situation.”

Everything under the sun belongs to the Creator….He made it all! Why not return the problem to the manufacturer’s warehouse and ask for His divine guidance and wisdom when you need help?

Just some food for thought!

Love,
